Ok, I must be the very last person to discover this gem — but better late than never.
It was so good I had to share it with you anyway. Not for lack of trying though: until last week, I’d never managed to get a table.
I finally went with my family, and it was everything we wanted it to be. Cozy and dimly lit, with just the right buzz but still quiet enough to talk, the sweetest service, and a top-notch bistro menu that changes with the seasons.
We kicked things off with a Comté croquette (which will turn into a shrimp croquette come spring, €13), an excellent trout tartare (€15), and finger-licking wings (€14). Most of us went straight for the vol-au-vent (€23) — easily the best I’ve had in months. Add hand-cut beef-fat fries, and a chocolate mousse that was simply spot on (€8) to finish.
Hats off to Yrieix, the young chef who trained at Otap and Ivresse: it was flawless from start to finish.
