After Bombay BBQ, I tried Karma Kitchen — the second Brussels outpost of Mission Massala, the well-loved Antwerp restaurant.
Here, the recipes draw from all over India. You’ll find familiar dishes like Old Delhi Chicken (€16.90), cooked in a tandoor oven, but also Chinese-influenced sweet-and-sour plates, like hot butter squid with chili and honey (€12.50), or chilli paneer (€13.50), fried and coated in a sweet soy-and-ketchup sauce. Absolutely delicious.
We also tried the Kerala pepper beef (€14.90), slow-cooked with curry leaves until meltingly tender, tiger prawns with tomato, turmeric and tamarind (€14.90), and mushroom skewers in a coconut sauce topped with coconut sambal (€14.90).
At the helm are Tim and Pavan — Pavan being of Indo-London heritage, passionate about Indian culture and its magnificent, colorful chaos. She personally handpicked every object and poster adorning the walls, having them shipped directly from India, container by container. The décor is simply stunning — the first time I walked in, I was blown away.
In short: highly recommended.
