Chez Jacky just opened in the heart of Châtelain, and I’ve already been twice in four days.
Not exactly surprising when you consider it’s the latest from the Café des Minimes crew—also behind Café Circus and Cheval Marin—who haven’t missed a beat.
In a neighborhood that hardly lacks restaurants, it’s a joy to see this super-welcoming little bistro run by friends, with a seasonal menu that runs from lunch and brunch to apéro and dinner—plus a great list of natural wines and Brussels beers.
We started with scampis diaboliques (€10) and mopped up every last drop of sauce, then a fillet of redfish with creamy mushrooms (€19) and stuffed zucchini (€18). Everything we ordered was excellent—and seriously generous. We still made room for rice pudding with plum compote (€8)—strictly for research purposes, of course—and had zero trouble polishing it off.
I’ve already been back for the Sunday roast chicken, served whole with sage, lemon, and hand-cut fries, and I can’t wait to snag a seat on the terrace for apéro.
