Our top 10 veggie spots

Our top 10 veggie spots,

Rather than just rounding up the veggie options that most (good) restaurants offer these days, we’ve put together a list of 10 spots that take things one step further.

1. The Most Committed

Savage – the place where veggies reign supreme and meat is just an add-on. It’s as simple as that. Here, the stars of the menu are vegetables, and they don’t need anyone else, from starter to dessert. And if you really can’t resist, you can always add a little protein – to share, of course.

2. The One We Save for Friday Nights

Old Boy – our favorite Viet-Thai spot with two menu options: mixed or fish & veggie – which can also be made fully vegetarian on request, of course. Vegetarian or not, we always order one of the two, just to taste as much as possible – and often, it’s the veggie that wins us over. Maybe that’s the secret to converting more people to veggie food – subtle and effective.

3. The One for Special Occasions

Humus et Hortense – the place that showed us how veggie dining can feel like a (nearly) Michelin-starred experience. It takes just as long to get a table here, and we’re just as excited when we finally do. Simply brilliant.

4. The One That Thinks of Everyone

Le Local – three options: meat, fish, or vegan. Yes, you read that right: vegan, not just veggie. And that’s the extra step we really appreciate (side note: the writers are neither vegan nor vegetarian). If you’re going to make the effort, might as well go all the way – and it would be a shame to leave out the most committed among us. The best part? It’s good. Really, reallygood.

5. The New Kid on the Block

Francine – following in the footsteps of Humus and Hortense, Mathias, who we already knew from Frank, recently launched Francine – and it’s a firework show. A 4-course vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairings. Pure bliss, which can also be enjoyed as a vegan and/or gluten-free menu.

6. The Place Where Eating and Partying Go Hand in Hand

You already know Le Conteur– the restaurant where, after a few shots handed out to the whole room and the third Aya Nakamura track, you can’t stay in your seat and end up dancing with the servers. But had you ever noticed how many veggies are on the menu, too busy clapping along to the show? More than half the dishes (we counted) are vegetarian. And deep down, we’re sure you never realized. That’s the beauty of it.

7. The 100% Vegan Taiwanese Spot

Liu Lin – yes, you read that right. We knew you were fans of bao and noodle soups, but all vegan? Admit it, you’re curious. Having tried and retried it, we can confirm the pulled jackfruit bao has nothing to envy from pulled pork, and the coconut-peanut veggie curry is so delicious you’ll forget a chicken version even exists. An absolute must.

8. The almost veggie one

Tero – we counted here too: 75% of the dishes are vegetarian, with a solid 45% vegan. For a place that also serves meat and fish, that’s seriously impressive. Bonus? Everything is made to share, the perfect way to (subtly) convert even the most die-hard carnivores at the table. Second bonus: the menu is ultra-seasonal and changes regularly – a perfect excuse to come back often!

9. The 100% Vegan Spot – Take Two

Tich – the vegan place where you can casually bring any of your friends, anytime of day. From almond-milk cappuccinos (house-made) to veggie-packed lunches, raw cakes, and energy balls for that afternoon slump – only a fool would pass it up. Ideal for a quick break, browsing their little bookshop corner, or setting up with your laptop for a few hours without the risk of going hungry.

10. THE Must-Try Brussels Brunch

Le Brunch Club – okay, you saw this one coming. Doesn’t matter, we’re adding it anyway. Because even if the Brunch Club is our signature Brussels’ Kitchen event, it’s above all the chance to enjoy a 7-course menu, cooked each month by 7 different Brussels-based chefs – and always vegetarian. All upcoming dates through June are listed here.
